Pack Smart, Luggage Reduction

Travel packing tip! Pack smart. It is simple: the lighter, the better!

You do not want to spend most of your vacation trip dragging your luggage across the street. It’s so frustrating to carry luggage up stairways or through crowds.

“The Early Bird Catches the Worm.” That proverb discourages procrastination. So, start your packing early. Start with a list of all that you will need to take.

Make sure you pack the essentials, your pair of jeans, comfortable shoes, shirts, a light jacket, toiletries, electrical adapters and chargers. At the earliest opportunity even weeks ahead ensure everything that’s on your list is in your bag. Even if you have to buy a few stuff. Don’t wait last minute to do it. You are bound to forget things that you need to take if you delay your packing to close to your departure time.

Airlines are very tricky. Check the baggage policy of your airlines. Read the fine prints too. Weigh your bags at home. You will be able to assess if your luggage is under the airlines baggage limits. In this way you won’t have to go through the process of disposing of your stuff or paying for extra weight.

Avoid packing things that you will find in the hotel, such as towels and shampoo.

If something is missing, you can always go shopping. But make sure that what you need is available in the country you are visiting. Such as your baby’s formula or your favorite sun screen!

Don’t travel with dirty clothes. Sometimes it’s not avoidable. But whenever possible, while you are on your vacation, wash your clothes. Having the hindsight that you will wash and reuse will help you to pack light. Rather than packing clothes for each day of your travel.

The smartest way to travel is to pack all your stuff in one carry-on. You won’t have to go through the whole luggage check-in at the airport. And you reduce the predicament of having to deal with any loss of luggage.

The best method for getting all what you need inside one carry-on is rolling clothes. YouTube has plenty of videos that will show you exactly how to roll your clothes. You will save a lot of space and your clothes will not get wrinkled.

So remember to pack as light as possible.
